Coroner Jamie Harwood said Marnelius Alexander, 23, of Peoria, was pronounced dead at 11:45 p.m. Harwood said Alexander died of a gunshot wound to the chest and died instantly.

The incident is Peoria's first fatal shooting of 2026.
