About WCBU

WCBU is the public radio station licensed to Bradley University and operated by Illinois State University's WGLT.

WCBU became an NPR member station on December 1, 1974. WCBU’s on-air signal reaches nearly 1 million central Illinois residents. WCBU serves Greater Peoria from its newsroom on the Bradley campus, providing local news and the highest quality national and international news via the NPR Network, American Public Media, and the BBC. Award-winning local news is featured during Morning Edition and All Things Considered, on WCBU.org and social media, and its newsletter, Fanfare.
 
WCBU2 is the station's HD service, offering classical music throughout the day. WCBU2 can be heard using HD radio receivers or online.

WCBU is supported by individual financial contributions; underwriting from our corporate sponsors; and federal, state and city grants.

Technical Details

WCBU-FM is a class B non-commercial radio station that operates at a frequency of 89.9 MHz with an effective radiant power of 26,500 watts. Our transmitter facility is located in East Peoria with our studios located on the campus of Bradley University.
