A 15-year-old motorcycle racer from Colorado who was injured in a crash during an event nearly two weeks ago in Bartonville has died, prompting an investigation by the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.

Bayne Nantz of Colorado was one of three riders involved in the collision on the Peoria Motorcycle Club track during the Peoria TT race on Aug. 22.

Nantz was taken by ambulance to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center immediately after the incident. He died Tuesday night at the OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois.

The sheriff’s office said the circumstances of the crash remain under investigation, in conjunction with the Peoria County Coroner’s Office.

No additional information has been released.
