A Peoria woman convicted of first-degree murder for a 2023 fatal stabbing at a Western Avenue gas station will spend 45 years in prison.

Cathy Logan, 55, received her sentence Friday from Peoria County Circuit Judge Steve Kouri. In November, a jury found Logan guilty of killing Tanazisha Green, 26.

Logan claimed she acted in self-defense, but prosecutors argued she initiated the confrontation between the two women, and they sought the long sentence.

Green died from a single stab wound to her chest in August 2023, after police responded to the incident at the Phillips 66 station.

Evidence presented at trial showed Logan arrived at the gas station, set her purse down, grabbed the murder weapon, approached Green and stabbed her.

Logan then walked away, turned around to retrieve the weapon and fled the scene. The weapon was never recovered.

Logan will be required to serve 100% of her prison term.
