Shooting death of juvenile marks Peoria’s 20th homicide of 2023

Peoria police say a juvenile male was killed after a shooting Friday night in the 1600 block of North Great Oak Road.

Officers were called to the area just before 7 p.m. regarding a person shot. Upon arrival, they found the victim down with apparent gunshot wounds.

The juvenile was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. His identity and the official cause and manner of death will be released by the Peoria County coroner.

The incident is under investigation and there is no suspect information currently available. The shooting death marks Peoria’s 20th homicide of 2023, and the second in four days.
