A 45-year-old woman who died at a Peoria hospital on Sunday following a three-vehicle crash in Pekin the day before has been identified.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says Candace Bumbalough of Pekin died at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center shortly before 2:30 p.m.

In a social media post, Harwood said Bumbalough was the driver of an SUV involved in the collision and arrived at OSF in critical condition. He said she died from multiple blunt force trauma injuries, despite emergency treatment and care.

The incident happened shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Veterans Drive [Illinois 9] and S. 14th Street. Charlotte Bumbalough, 16, died at the scene, according to Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley.

Information provided by Illinois State Police indicates the victims were traveling in an SUV that struck a pickup truck and a motor home. A third passenger in the SUV was also hospitalized.

No details regarding how the collision occurred or what direction the vehicles were traveling was provided. The crash remains under investigation.

Harwood said toxicology testing on Candace Bumbalough required under state law are pending.
