The Chase Bank Building in downtown Peoria will remain closed for now while assessments on the building's fire suppression system are conducted this week.

Officials said the building was unoccupied and a search found no victims. No injuries were reported.

Peoria Fire Department crews responded to the 800 block of W. Maywood Ave., shortly after 3 a.m. On arrival, they encountered a working fire with smoke coming from the front of the residence.

Peoria firefighters responded just after midnight to 708 W. Moss where they found fire and smoke visible from the back of the residence.
