Two Peoria residents are without a home after a fire Tuesday night on South Matthew Street.

According to the Peoria Fire Department, investigators have determined the blaze was set intentionally.

Firefighters responded to the 1200 block of South Matthew shortly before 10 p.m. and discovered heavy flames and black smoke billowing from a half-story home.

Additional fires were discovered in the back of the home, spreading to debris in the backyard.

Crews knocked down the bulk of the fire and searched the residence. No victims were found. Afterwards, a demolition crew was called to remove debris from the property.

The damage to the home is estimated at $60,000.

Two adult residents were displaced from the home and are getting housing assistance from the American Red Cross.

No injuries to the residents or firefighters were reported.
