Illinois budget woes mean some Illinois State Police troopers aren't getting all the pay they're owed.
The state owes some troopers as much as $10,000 in back pay, as well as in unpaid raises and allowances. That's true even though troopers secured raises through arbitration last year.
Steve Clemente is president of Troopers Lodge 41, which represents more than 1,400 state police employees. He was in Springfield this month to push for the money to be included in the upcoming budget. He says he's hopeful that will happen.
But there's competition for state dollars with a long list of state agencies that say they need a cash injection, too.
Gov. Bruce Rauner is set to deliver his first budget address Wednesday.
