Tri-County health officials on Monday reported one new death linked to COVID-19 in the past three days, while state records show close to 7,700 vaccine doses administered since Friday.

The area’s latest resident to succumb to the pandemic was a Peoria County man in his 60s. The region’s death toll over the past year is now 590, while the case count increased to 35,082 with 172 new infections reported since last week.

Of the 7,689 recently administered COVID-19 shots, 4,038 went to individuals who are now fully vaccinated. Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford counties now have 57,469 fully vaccinated residents – or 16.35% of the population.

The three counties have combined for 149,296 total injections, and have averaged 2,680 shots per day over the past week.

Over the weekend, Illinois as a whole surged past the 4-million mark for vaccine doses administered as 62,508 new shots since Sunday moved the total to 4,102,810. More than 1.5 million Illinoisans are fully vaccinated, or just shy of 12%.
