Medical Issue Likely Caused Death of Woman Found in Car

Authorities believe a medical issue caused the death of a woman found in a parked car along Interstate 74 Tuesday.

Officials located the car on the eastbound shoulder near the Pinecrest exit.

Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley says a preliminary autopsy indicates the woman likely died from a medical issue. Toxicology results remain pending.

Hanley says the woman, who was in her late sixties, may have been traveling through the area. Authorities have not released the her name pending notification of family members.

The Illinois State Police and the Tazewell County coroner are investigating the case.
