The City of Peoria is offering some tenant training seminars throughout the community, but turnout so far isn't what organizers had hoped.

Monday's informational meeting happened at the East Bluff Community Center. Three people turned out for the meeting.

Terence Acquah, Peoria's Neighborhood Enhancement Coordinator, says the turnout was not what they had hoped, and the city is looking for ways to incentivize renters to get more people to the sessions.  Either either way, he says, the low turnout was unfortunate because they are there to help.

“We’re just trying to inform that no matter what your status or race you have rights as a tenant, and in Peoria we have a growing population of tenant and everybody just needs to be informed,” Acquah said.

Acquah says in addition to tenant information, they are trying connect people with a couple of useful sources.

Representatives from Prairie State Legal Services and Navicore Solutions were also on hand to share helpful information for renters.

The next session is Thursday evening at the Christian Center on Brandywine next to the Pizza Ranch from six to seven.
