Preliminary autopsy results for a man found dead at Peoria County Jail Monday indicate he died of bacterial meningitis.

36-year old Rodrico McLeod was found unresponsive Monday morning, a few hours after he was arrested. The day before McLeod was treated and released from unity Point Methodist Emergency Department.

McLoud had slept through the night and was found during regular rounds unresponsive.

Peoria County coroner Jamie Harwood says there was no trauma or injury noted during autopsy. Coroner Harwood also says the particular strain of meningitis that caused McLeod's death is rarely transmitted from casual person to person contact. Harwood says health care providers and jail employees have been notified, but they are not at risk.

McLeod lived on South Stanley and was facing trespassing charges.
