Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said the body of a man recovered from the Illinois River likely was in the water for at least eight hours.

Harwood said the man in his 30s was found around 10 a.m. Tuesday on the river bank under the Bob Michel Bridge.

He said an initial exam found no trauma on the body. An autopsy is in progress to determine the cause of death, and the coroner's office is awaiting fingerprint results for a formal identification.
