Police Announce Arrest In Homicide Of 14-Year-Old Student

Peoria Police have arrested one person in connection with the shooting death of 14-year old Tommie Forest.

Police arrested 21-year-old Alex F. Collins of Peoria on Sunday.  Forest was found dead in the backyard of 2405 North Flora, and three other teenagers were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  All four were listed as Peoria High School students.  Peoria Police Chief Jerry mitchell says additional officers will be placed at the high schools and feeder schools Tuesday to talk with students:

“I think it’s important that the message get across to the children and the parents that as the kids return to school, it’s a safe environment.”

Mitchell says there is no link between the shooting incident and any District 150 school or personnel.  He says officers are looking for multiple other suspects in the shooting.  Police say the shooting victims were unintentionally shot as the suspects were targeting other individuals.
