Dylan Solloway, 31, faces Woodford County charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding, and resisting or obstructing arrest.

A man wanted on a warrant from North Carolina who tried to flee from deputies with the Woodford County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday night was rescued from the Illinois River following his escape attempt.

A news release issued by Chief Deputy Dennis Tipsword said Dylan Solloway, 31, faces Woodford County charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding, and resisting or obstructing arrest.

Tipsword said the sheriff’s office was notified of Solloway’s presence in Woodford County by the U.S. Marshal’s office. He was being sought for violating a felony domestic violence protective order and for making harassing phone calls.

Deputies learned Solloway was living in his camper at the MillPoint RV Park west of Germantown Hills. Solloway fled an attempted traffic stop and crashed his truck into a body of water near the river. He then left his vehicle and tried to escape in the river.

Deputies used one boat from the Spring Bay Fire Department and another from a private citizen to retrieve Solloway from the river. He had self-inflicted injuries and exposure to the river’s cold temperatures and was taken to a local hospital.

In addition to the local charges, Solloway awaits extradition to North Carolina.
