Jamonica Rolle will be the next president for Illinois Central College.
Rolle was announced Monday as the board of trustees’ choice to follow the retired Sheila Quirk-Bailey. Rolle comes to the Peoria area after serving in a leadership position at Broward College in Florida.
“ICC is a thriving college with deep community roots and a proud record of student success,” Rolle said in a media release, thanking the board and search committee for selecting her as Illinois Central College’s sixth president.
“I look forward to working alongside faculty, staff, students and community partners to advance student learning, expand life outcomes and continue driving innovation and opportunity throughout the region.”
As Broward’s provost and senior vice president of academic affairs and college operations, Rolle guided administrative strategy for an institution with 52,000 students across multiple campuses in the greater Miami area.
Her past work has included student retention initiatives and developmental education reform, along with championing the use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
ICC board chair Cindy Byrd touted Rolle as an “accomplished leader with 20 years of progressive experience.”
“Her strengths and qualifications clearly align with ICC’s mission and current priorities as evident in her strong commitment to student success, workforce development and community impact,” Byrd said in the media release.
“Her proven ability as a collaborative, innovative leader will also guide the college into its next era of excellence and community service.”
Rolle emerged from a group of three finalists following a comprehensive national search process that involved gathering feedback from faculty, staff, students and community members.
Quirk-Bailey retired in December after beginning her tenure as president in 2016. Bruce Budde has served as interim president since Quirk-Bailey’s departure.
Rolle is slated to start July 1. A special board meeting is scheduled Wednesday for formal approval of her appointment.
