This year’s Peoria Labor Day parade will take a new path, starting in lower Laura Bradley Park and heading west along Farmington Road in West Peoria.

The parade is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. Monday, with a family-friendly festival to follow at Raber Packing.

“We are looking forward to hosting the Labor Day parade,” West Peoria Mayor James Dillon said in a media release. “Coming from a union background and having most of my former board members, we are excited — and we have been known to put on a pretty good parade.”

Dillon, a longtime member of Plumbers Local 50, is one of this year’s grand marshals. He will be joined by National Association of Letter Carriers Lodge 31 President Scott Haney, and Peoria Firefighters Local 50 member Scott Howard Jr.

The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office will assist with traffic control during the parade. Farmington Road will be closed between Main Street and Swords Avenue, as well as Park Road from Farmington to Dakota Avenue.

This year marks the 25th year since the Peoria Labor Day was restarted. Last year’s event was held in downtown Peoria.
