A Peoria teen arrested by police on Monday is the third person charged in the shooting death of a 20-year-old man.

According to police, a 17-year-old-male was taken into custody without incident in connection with the ongoing investigation into the shooting death of Teron Scott Jr. Police said the juvenile was arrested for alleged first-degree murder and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.

The 17-year-old is the third person to be arrested in connection with Scott’s death. Kemareon Bell, 18, and Christopher Adams, 20, also face first-degree murder charges in the case.

A Peoria Police Department media release says officers responded to the 300 block of South MacArthur shortly after 2:30 a.m. on June 20. Officers discovered a vehicle had struck a tree on the west side of Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

Inside the vehicle, they found Scott with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

While at the scene, police learned a second person from the vehicle had arrived at a local hospital. The 19-year-old man had a gunshot wound to his hand that was not life-threatening.

The case remains under investigation by the Peoria Police Department.
