The Peoria Police Department has arrested a second suspect in the shooting death of a 20-year-old Peoria man late last week.

According to police officials, Kemareon Bell, 18, was identified as a suspect in the death of Teron Scott Jr. by the department’s special investigations division. Bell was located by police shortly before 6 p.m. Monday and arrested for alleged first-degree murder without incident.

Bell, who is being held at the Peoria County Jail, is the second person arrested by Peoria police in connection with Scott’s death.

Police officials said Christopher Adams, 20, also was arrested for allegedly committing first-degree murder. Adams was taken into custody without incident after questioning by Peoria Police detectives around 9 p.m. Friday, the day of the shooting.

The Peoria County State's Attorney's Office announced Tuesday afternoon that its petition for pretrial detention in the first-degree murder case against Adams was granted, keeping him in custody.

A Peoria Police Department media release says officers responded to the 300 block of South MacArthur shortly after 2:30 a.m. Friday, and discovered a vehicle had struck a tree on the west side of Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

Inside the vehicle, they found Scott with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

While at the scene, police learned a second person from the vehicle arrived at a local hospital. The 19-year-old man had a gunshot wound to his hand that was not life-threatening.

The case remains under investigation by the Peoria Police Department and the Peoria County Coroner’s office.
