A 20-year-old man is in Peoria Police Department custody in connection with a homicide Friday morning on MacArthur Highway.

Police officials said Christopher Adams was arrested for allegedly committing first-degree murder. Adams was taken into custody without incident after questioning by Peoria Police detectives around 9 p.m. Friday.

Adams is accused of killing Teron Scott Jr., also 20, who was found deceased with apparent gunshot wounds in a crashed car in the 300 block of South MacArthur early Friday morning. Police said a 19-year-old man in the car had a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the hand and was transported to a local hospital.

Adams is being held in the Peoria County Jail.

The Peoria Police Department said the investigation continues.
