The victim of an early Friday morning homicide on MacArthur Highway in Peoria has been identified.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said 20-year old Teron Scott Jr., of Peoria, was pronounced deceased on the scene Friday around 4:00 a.m.
According to Harwood, an autopsy shows Scott suffered a gunshot wound to the head and died instantly.
A Peoria Police Department media release says officers responded to the 300 block of South MacArthur shortly after 2:30 a.m., and discovered the vehicle had struck a tree on the west side of Martin Luther King Jr. Park.
Inside the vehicle, they found Scott with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
While at the scene, police learned a second person from the vehicle arrived at a local hospital. The 19-year-old man had a gunshot wound to his hand that was not life-threatening.
The case remains under investigation by the Peoria Police Department and the Peoria County Coroner’s office.
Police have not released any suspect information.
