2 more teens indicted as adults in Peoria County gang-related RICO case

A Peoria County grand jury has indicted two more juvenile offenders in adult court for their alleged involvement in a street gang under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, or RICO.

The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office announced the indictments of Amarii Smith-Holley and Kendal Patterson on Tuesday. Their separate cases had been transferred to adult court in late May.

Smith-Holley, 17, also has been charged with multiple charges associated with illegal use of a firearm. Patterson, who is 18 but was a juvenile at the time of his alleged offenses, also is charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon.

Three other juveniles previously had their cases moved to adult court.

In October, a grand jury charged four adults and six juveniles, including Smith-Holley and Patterson, through an ongoing investigation into the street gang. According to the state’s attorney, detectives have linked the individuals to at least three murders and 12 shootings.
