Peoria woman faces murder charge in connection with Sunday stabbing

A Peoria woman arrested over the weekend in connection with a fatal stabbing was charged with first-degree murder Monday in Peoria County Circuit Court.

Prosecutors say 41-year-old Lauraine Singleton stabbed James Davis, 50, in the chest.

Davis was found lying on the ground floor in Singleton's Morgan Street apartment early Sunday morning. Authorities say the knife used also was found inside her apartment. Singleton and Davis used to date.

Singleton's bond was set at $1 million. She's due back in court on June 1.
