The community-based COVID-19 testing site at the Peoria Civic Center will reopen Friday after more than two months.
Free testing will be available from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. COVID-19 vaccinations also will be available for free to anyone, regardless of insurance or immigration status.
According to Wednesday figures posted by the local public health departments, the Tri-County has 1,147 active COVID-19 cases; Peoria-area hospitals are treating 52 patients and 1,095 people are isolating at home. The percentage of area residents who are fully vaccinated stands at 48.4%.
The Civic Center testing site has been closed since June 23. The reopening brings the number of community-based testing locations across the state to 10, including one at the Interstate Center in Bloomington.
