The Peoria Civic Center has agreed a five-year extension of its partnership with ASM Global, the management company that operates the city-owned entertainment venue.

Beau Sutherland has been named general manager of the Peoria Civic Center after filling the role in an interim capacity for the past two months.

Sutherland has worked for the Downtown convention and entertainment venue since 2000, placing him among the facility’s longest-tenured employees.

He has held leadership positions in sales, marketing and business development, and was the Civic Center’s assistant GM prior to his interim GM appointment.

“This facility has been my professional home for more than two decades, and I have had the privilege of working alongside an exceptionally talented team dedicated to creating memorable experiences for our guests, clients and community” Sutherland said in a news release.

“I look forward to building on our success, bringing new events and opportunities to Peoria, and expanding the Civic Center’s role as a driving force for Central Illinois.”

Sutherland’s achievements with the Civic Center include securing the naming rights agreement for the Prairie Home Alliance Theater. As GM, he will oversee all operations of the convention center, the theater and Carver Arena.

The Peoria Civic Center Authority [PCCA] and Legends Global, the venue’s management company, chose Sutherland to fill the vacancy created when longtime GM Rik Edgar departed in June to take over as executive director of Vibrant Arena in Moline.

“Beau’s impact extends far beyond the walls of the Peoria Civic Center,” said Rich Semonis, chairman of the PCCA Board. “Throughout his career, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership, built strong relationships across our community, and consistently delivered results for this organization.

“His passion for the Civic Center, deep understanding of our market and vision for the future make him the right leader to guide the facility into its next chapter.”
