Active COVID-19 Cases Reach 3-Month High In Tri-County

More than 600 Tri-County residents currently have COVID-19, the most in three months.

Figures posted Monday by the public health departments show Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford counties with 588 people isolating at home with the disease and 17 patients in area hospitals.

The 605 active cases mark an increase of 92 since Friday and 183 over the past week, reaching the highest total since 974 on May 11.

Peoria and Tazewell counties each reported one fatality since Friday, bringing the area's death toll since the start of the pandemic to 773. The total case count stands at 46,936.

Updated data from the Illinois Department of Public Health show 46.4% of Tri-County residents are fully vaccinated.
