Judge orders bond reduction in Lovelace murder case

A judge has granted a defense motion to lower the bond of a former Illinois prosecutor who faces a second murder trial in his wife's death.

Judge Bob Hardwick reduced the $5 million bond imposed on former Adams County assistant state's attorney Curtis Lovelace to $3.5 million. Lovelace has been behind bars since he was charged nearly two years ago with first-degree murder in his wife Cory's suffocation death in February 2014.

Rich and Libby Herr, friends of Lovelace, posted 10% of the bond, or $350,000. Lovelace will be under GPS monitoring while free.

Lovelace's first trial earlier this year ended in a mistrial.  His second trial is set for Oct. 24.  A status hearing is set for Sept. 8.
