An underground gas leak forced the evacuation of buildings near Dozer Park on Monday morning.
High levels of natural gas were detected in the basements of Peoria Rescue Ministries and Born Paints. About 30 people were evacuated from Peoria Rescue Ministries.
Jefferson, Adams, and nearby cross streets were closed by police, as Ameren crews turned off the gas lines to allow ventilation of the affected buildings. Those roadways have since reopened.
Ameren crews will remain in the area for the next several hours to restore gas and power to both buildings.
