UPDATED 6:10 p.m. | One person was killed and a firefighter was injured in a house fire Sunday in Canton, authorities said.
The fire happened around 5:24 a.m. Sunday at 726 E. Chestnut St. in Canton, about 30 miles southwest of Peoria, the Canton Fire Department said on Facebook.
One injured person was found on the second floor of the home. They later died at the Graham Hospital emergency room, said Fulton County Coroner Steve Hines. No names are being released at this time.
A firefighter from the Canton Fire Department sustained "moderate injuries while removing the victim from the home," the department said. It took about 40 minutes to get the fire under control.
Canton Fire and State Fire Marshal officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
