An East Peoria man has died after reportedly fleeing an attempted traffic stop late Saturday night.

According to Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood, 25-year-old Craig Spurlock Junior died at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center just before midnight Saturday.

The coroner's report indicates East Peoria police attempted to stop Spurlock for speeding on the Cedar Street bridge around 11:15 p.m.

Spurlock apparently fled into Peoria and the attempted traffic stop was terminated. Spurlock's vehicle then collided with another near the intersection of South McArthur Highway and West Millman Street.

The other vehicle reportedly left the scene. The Illinois State Police is investigating the incident; toxicology reports are pending.
