Bradley University now says non-faculty staff should continue working from home after the targeted Aug. 17 "Return to Campus" date if they are able to do so.
Supervisors also are advised to work out any alternate or modified work schedules with employees.
Faculty members are still expected to work on campus this fall, but they can request to teach one class online.
Bradley said it modified the Return to Campus plan as guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and the state's "Restore Illinois" plan recommend lowering the number of people on campus by encouraging remote work whenever possible.
The university said work arrangements will be revisited regularly and modified as needed. A two-week notice of a change will be provided whenever possible, officials said.
The university also will require everyone on campus to wear face coverings in classrooms, common areas, and other places where social distancing is difficult or not possible to maintain.
