The announcement targets employees considering retirement or a career transition. Bradley University is offering the program as part of long-term workforce planning, similar to an incentive last offered in 2020.

Bradley University announced it is offering a voluntary retirement incentive program for full-time employees age 62 and older.

The announcement targets employees considering retirement or a career transition.

Libby Derry, the university’s executive director of communications and media relations, said the program is part of long-term workforce planning and similar to an incentive last offered in 2020.

“Participation is entirely voluntary and the university has not established a target number of participants,” said Derry, adding the offer was made available to fewer than 80 eligible full-time employees.

“Should an employee choose to participate, any resulting vacancy will be evaluated. Staffing decisions will continue to be based on the operational needs of the department and the university's strategic priorities.”

The announcement indicates the university wants to position itself for the future and maintain “the flexibility to invest in our strategic priorities.”

Interested employees have until July 22 to submit a signed agreement with the human resources department. The university said final approval will be based on operational needs, strategic priorities and available funding.
