Creative Commons

Two teenagers face charges after police said they stole a car at gunpoint in South Peoria Monday night.

Police said the victim agreed to give three males a ride from the 200 block of N. MacArthur. When they arrived, one of the men pulled a gun and forced the victim and his passenger out.

While police were responding to the initial call, they received a report of the stolen vehicle speeding down Union Hill. The vehicle eventually stopped in the area of Millman and Webster. Three occupants then ran from police on foot.

Teren Shelby, 19, was arrested in the 1100 block of W. McBean for aggravated vehicular carjacking, resisting and obstructing, fleeing and eluding, hit and run with property damage, driving without a license, reckless driving and multiple traffic citations. He also had a valid Peoria County warrant on a failure to appear charge. He was taken to the Peoria County Jail.

A 16-year-old suspect was also arrested in the 1100 block of W. McBean for aggravated vehicular carjacking, resisting and obstructing, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, illegal possession by a minor, and no FOID. He was taken to the county Juvenile Detention Center.

The third suspect remains at large. Police are asking anyone with information or camera footage to contact them or CrimeStoppers.
