Police Believe Witness Saw Fatal Hit-and-Run in South Peoria

Creative Commons

The Peoria Police Department is looking for a key witness to a fatal hit-and-run accident over the weekend.

37-year-old Renee Nichols died Saturday night when she was struck by a gray or silver SUV while crossing Western Avenue. The vehicle likely has front-end damage.

Police investigators say a driver in a pickup truck saw the crash. They drove south on Western, stopped, and pulled into the nearby Church’s Chicken parking lot.

Police are asking for the witness to step forward.
