Gun crime is trending down in Peoria through the first four months of 2025, according to the Peoria Police Department.

Statistics in a year-to-date report released last week by police show 14 shooting incidents from Jan. 1 through April 30, compared with 20 over the same time frame in 2024, and 24 in the year before.

The 14 shooting incidents have resulted in 15 gunshot victims, including two homicides, said the report. There were 22 gunshot victims in the first four months of last year.

The figures also show 299 alerts from ShotSpotter and 1,099 rounds fired, representing drop-offs of nearly 100 alerts and more than 550 rounds from a year ago.

Police said 122 weapons have been recovered so far this year, including 22 stolen weapons. The report also shows the department has received 476 submissions through its anonymous Tip411 service.
