A Peoria man has been sentenced to 85 years in prison for a 2022 murder.

According to Peoria County State’s Attorney Jodi Hoos, Domincue Linwood, 26, was sentenced to 85 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the murder of 24-year old Jamarion Lee.

Peoria Police received a ShotSpotter alert in the 1600 block of West Adrian G. Hinton Avenue in South Peoria on Sept. 3, 2022. Prosecutors say police found Lee severely injured with a gunshot wound. While trying to save his life, officers heard Lee identify Linwood by the nickname “Dooder.”

A Peoria County jury found Linwood guilty of first-degree murder in January.

During Thursday’s sentencing hearing, Assistant State’s Attorney Kristin Alferik presented evidence linking Linwood to other crimes, arguing Linwood is “out of control” and dangerous.

Linwood is required to serve the entirety of the sentence.
