Washington Basketball Coach Kevin Brown Dies at Age 50

Basketball Museum of Illinois

WASHINGTON -- Washington Community High School boys' basketball coach Kevin Brown has lost his battle with brain cancer. He was 50.

"It is with great sadness that we share Kevin Brown passed away June 11. Kevin’s 15 year career as an educator and coach at WCHS had a great impact on thousands of students, and he was also a dear friend and colleague. He will be greatly missed," said the high school in a statement posted to social media.

Brown was first diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer last year.

Before coming to Washington to coach the Panthers, Brown spent ten years at Central Catholic in Bloomington.

He was a graduate of Eureka College, where he played on the 1992 NAIA team and was coached by Hall of Famer Dave Darnall.

Funeral arrangments haven't been announced yet.
