Authorities Identify Peoria Woman Killed Tuesday

Authorities have identified the Peoria woman stabbed to death Tuesday.

29-year-old Markesha T. Jeffries died at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center following an altercation in the Associated Bank parking lot.

Peoria police were originally called to the Brandywine Drive location at around 1:45 p.m. on a report that a woman was having trouble with two other women. Officers found Jeffries at the scene.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says Jeffries sustained a single sharp object wound to the right groin area, and likely suffered a severe hemorrhage.

31-year-old Sheyanah N. Lee was taken into custody in the bank parking lot, and was later arrested for murder.

Lee was also arrested for Mob Action and Battery in an unrelated incident. She is being held in the Peoria County Jail.
