Peoria Police make an arrest after a fatal stabbing overnight

Peoria Police have announced an arrest following a fatal stabbing early Sunday morning.

According to a news release from Sgt. Amy Dotson, officers were called to 715 Morgan St. around 2:18 a.m. Sunday for a reported stabbing. Dotson said officers found a 50-year-old man with life-threatening injuries. He was taken to an area hospital where he later died. The Peoria County Coroner's Office has not yet released the victim’s identity, pending notification of family.

Peoria Police said Lauraine B. Singleton, 41, was located at the scene and taken to the department for interviews. She was later arrested on a preliminary charge of homicide and taken to the Peoria County Jail.
