Death of Elderly Peoria Man Now Being Investigated as a Homicide

Peoria Police are investigating the death of a 74-year-old Peoria man as a homicide.

Frank Runyon was found unconscious with serious facial injuries when emergency medical responders were finally allowed inside his house in the 1800 block of South Stanley Street last Wednesday. They were called to house on the report of a man down. But upon arrival, attempts to make contact with the other resident in the home were not answered. Police entered after about 30 minutes.  Frank Runyon was transported to the hospital, where he remained until his death Monday. 38-year-old Mark Runyon was arrested at that time for Abuse or Neglect of the Elderly.

The Peoria County Coroner says preliminary autopsy results show Runyon died from multiple blunt force injuries, including head and chest trauma. Police continue to investigate how the fatal wounds occurred.
