Police Urge Motorists to Take Caution in Cold Weather

Illinois State Police District 08 is warning people to take necessary precautions before heading out on the road.  The bitter cold temperatures and the potential for snow overnight prompts the caution. Motorists are encouraged to to keep emergency items inside their vehicles and check road conditions before heading out.

Illinois State Police also ask that people remember to move over for snow plows that typically operate at 25-35 miles per hour.

Stranded motorists are encouraged to remain inside their vehicles to wait for first responders. Those involved in accidents not requiring emergency care can file an accident report within 10 days at the nearest police station.
