ICC names interim

An Illinois Central College Administrator has been tapped to be the interim school president.  The ICC Board of Trustees named Provost Dr. William Tammone as interim president while a search for a new president begins. The move comes after President John Erwin announced his retirement last week. It took effect May 1.

Tammone has been at the College for nearly six years. He has served as the vice president for academic services and provost. He holds a PhD in history and the philosophy of science from Indiana University and a bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Chicago in biology, sciences related to human biology, and medicine.

Prior to his tenure at ICC, Tammone served as Vice President for Academic Services at a Community College in Sidney, Michigan.

Illinois Central College also did its yearly organization yesterday, seating newly elected trustee Frank Mackaman. He replaces outgoing trustee Katherine Coyle.
