Peoria police use new strategy for unsolved murders

The Peoria Police Department is using billboards across town to help solve the murders of two juveniles.  17-year-old Tyrone Jones and 12-year-old Demarcus Payne were both victims of gun violence this year.  Detective Keith McDaniel came up with the idea. He says he hopes the billboards will reach more people?

“The public seems to have a tendency of forgetting. We want to make sure that these young men are not forgotten. We want to let everybody know we are still here actively investigating these cases and we need people to come forward.”

Mitchell says there are five billboards for each victim placed along major roads.  The billboards urge people to anonymously call Crime-Stoppers with information related to the homicides.
