Peoria Police Officers responded to a physical altercation on Garden Street in South Peoria Thursday hours after regional leaders talked state cuts. Officers made several arrests in the incident that also led to an officer-involved car accident. Peoria Police shift commander Jared Ginglen says police services could hurt if state budget woes are passed onto the city:
“We need all the help we can get, and any programs that are cut or anything else is a detriment to what we do keeping people safe and guarding our community. It could e a very long summer.”
Ginglen says the call for State funding cuts comes at a time police response calls increase during the warmer months. The City of Peoria is holding/held a public input meeting on the police department budget Thursday night.
