East Peoria police continue to investigate why a man shot his ex-wife and her boyfriend at a local bar.
Law enforcement held an update on the homicide that took place June 14th at 5th Quarter Sports Bar.
Jason Moore shot and killed his ex-wife, Lori, and her boyfriend at a high school reunion. Moore was shot and killed almost immediately by an off-duty FBI agent.
East Peoria police Wednesday released a series of text messages between Jason and Lori up until the shootings. The exchanges began two days before the murders with Jason acknowledging Lori had a new boyfriend and that he was fine with it. They move on to Jason getting agitated Lori didn't need him to take the kids the night of the reunion. They end with Jason saying he planned to show up at 5th Quarter to anger Lori.
East Peoria Police Chief Dick Ganschow says there’s no indication from the texts that Jason was ready to hurt Lori or her boyfriend.
“But I think clearly, that day and maybe before that, there must’ve been the build up of frustration that at some point during that day that no one at this point can point to…not his friends, not his family, not anyone. But clearly at some point in that day, Jason Moore snapped.”
Ganschow says investigators are still waiting for toxicology results from Jason Moore that could give some insight into his mental condition. He says Moore was prescribed a medication to help him sleep and an anti-depressant. It’s unknown whether Moore was actively taking the medication, and if so, it’s unclear how those drugs would’ve been impacted by alcohol.
