Peoria Man ID'd As Victim In Apartment Complex Shooting

The Peoria Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a Peoria man found Wednesday night in the parking lot of the Hedgehill Apartments.

On Thursday afternoon, Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood identified the victim as 20-year-old Kandon Bonner. Harwood said Bonner suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died almost instantly.

Police officer Amy Dotson said officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the 3600 block of West Hedgehill Lane just before 11:30 p.m., and discovered the victim on the ground near an abandoned vehicle. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but were unsuccessful.

Bonner's death is the city’s ninth homicide of 2021, and there is no suspect information yet.

Anyone with information regarding the incident or possible camera footage relevant to the investigation is asked to contact the Peoria Police Department Criminal Investigations Division.
