A suspect has been arrested in Milwaukee in connection with a woman’s fatal shooting on Peoria’s South Side last week that resulted in her vehicle crashing into a Western Avenue business.

According to the Peoria Police Department, the investigation into the incident identified Maurice Graves, 30, as the suspect in the death of Dionna Causey, 30.

An arrest warrant for first-degree murder was issued and officers working in coordination with the U.S. Marshals Service took Graves into custody Thursday in Wisconsin. Police say the incident remains under investigation.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Causey suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died Oct. 5 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. The shooting occurred around 1:30 p.m. that day.

Officers determined the shooting initially occurred in the 1900 block of West Antoinette Street, and that Causey drove from the area before crashing into the City Market at the intersection of Western and Howett streets, about a half-mile away.
