The Peoria County coroner has identified the woman who was shot to death during a domestic dispute that preceded an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and police, killing the suspect.

Peoria Police said they were called to a domestic dispute near the intersection of Hamilton and Madison streets downtown around 6:45 p.m. Friday.

Police found a woman had been shot and located the suspect. Police said shots were fired and the suspect was struck by gunfire and later died in the hospital.

Harwood has identified him as Cortez White, 41, of St. Louis. The coroner said White died of multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at 8:26 p.m.

No officers were injured in the incident.
