The Peoria County Coroner says the skeletal remains found Tuesday in a wooded area on Peoria’s far southwest side appears to be that of a man who was reported missing last September.
Coroner Jamie Harwood gave the presumptive identification of Jason Bloom, 44, of Peoria, on Thursday following an autopsy.
Harwood said the remains were identified partly through a tattoo on the right arm, which Bloom’s family corroborated. Harwood said his office continues additional studies.
“While tattoos are mostly unique to the individual, it is necessary to pursue DNA testing and anthropological examination,” Harwood said in a social media post.
Harwood has not said when Bloom may have died, or what may have caused his death.
